Story
In July 2019 Improving Lives Plymouth opened a much-needed Veterans and Families Hub at Ernest English House in the City Centre. The Hub provides social activity, peer support, mentoring, casework, and other support, for serving, reserve and veteran armed forces personnel, their families and carers. Working with a range of organisations and other service charities in the city, the project aims to shape better pathways to employment, mental wellbeing, welfare, housing advice and financial information.
The Hub has been developed by veterans and their families and all the plans for the future of the hub are being co-designed by veterans and their families. To house the rapidly growing well used hub we are extending Ernest English House on the first floor of to create a larger lounge, with its own kitchen, and multi-use activity spaces. All the necessary planning permissions and consents to undertake the work are in place.
